Having spent the last few years as a Creative Arts Tutor for a post 16 Alternative Provision
(where I also studied for a Diploma in Art Therapy), I have now decided to concentrate on creating my own portfolio, and am working on producing art that is unique, original and exciting.
As an artist I enjoy a range of forms, but my preferred style is abstract (mainly because it breaks the rules of realism) and I feel the energy of this particular approach. I generally use brushes and palette knives, but as I harmonise with the canvas I will use a variety of media as the creative process develops.
My work, and the way I work, is very diverse because I constantly get inspiration from all around me (my photographs, music or even colours in material). I do not want to limit myself, so am able to cover a wide range of ideas, and I thrive in having the freedom that abstract work creates.
While I particularly enjoy the more the renowned artists such as Monet, Van Gogh and Klimt, I am equally inspired by Mark Rothko, as his paintings were a method of spiritual expression and newer artists such as Damien Hirst for his controversial works of art and the German abstract artist Gerhard Richter with his play between realism and abstraction.
